EVALUATION OF TOMATO VARIETIES FOR YIELD ATTRIBUTES IN GODAWARI, LALITPUR

ABSTRACT

A study was conducted in Godawari-14, Lalitpur Nepal to conduct the varietal trial in tomato to access the suitable tomato variety in that location. Seven tomato varieties were used in the experiment which replicated three. The observations were recorded for various yield parameters, floral parameters, and growth parameters. The highest plant height was observed in monoprecus (125.73 cm), while the shortest plant height was recorded in 2-HRDTOM035 (83.26cm). The experimental findings show that the number of clusters per plant, fruit per cluster and fruit per plant was found 7, 5 and 23 respectively in HRD109. The highest fruit diameter was found in HRDTOM084(19.88 cm) whereas, the highest fruit length was observed in same variety HRDTOM084(5.94 cm). In case of floral parameters monoprecus flower (30 days) and mature (85 days) earlier than other varieties. The yield ton per hectare was observed highest in HRDTOM084 (11.06 ton/ ha) among the seven varieties and the variety HRDTOM084 can be used for commercial cultivation.
